Projects
Babel, Monnaie de Paris, Robert Alice & laCollection
Paris, June 2023
This exhibition investigates the 2000 year history of centralized monetary policies in the series Ornament and Crisis, before placing this history in comparison with the newer history of decentralized ecosystems growing at a global level in the series Blueprints. Twisting the balance between centralized and decentralized systems, and their competing approach to the archiving of knowledge, this exhibition spans most recent creation media : abstract digital drawings, immersive VR environments, printing press plates and smart contract NFTs.

Web3 Aesthetics
Annka Kultys Gallery, London, May to December 2022
“Web3 Aesthetics : in the future post-hype of the NFTs” is an exhibition in co-curation with Annka Kultys and laCollection. The show was displayed with VR headset in the gallery space. The exhibition is based on three of the most traditional themes of art history. To name a few of the 27 artists, Ada Sokol, Signe Pierce and Anna Ridler were featured in this show.
Metamorphosis of the Body explored how artists represent the body and expand its definition through the use of technology in the NFT space. Digital Florascapes drew on the use of new technologies, computers, and NFTs to represent, depict and re-invent nature today. Digital Abstraction traced how artists generated abstraction with new tools. Abstract art largely seems unrelated to the world of appearances, however, with the right software, an image on a screen can be morphed from figurative to abstract with the press of a key. Tools such as autonomous systems create ‘generative art’ and a variety of software using pixels as paint to create new colour fields.

Leopold Museum & laCollection
New York City, June 2022
Serving as Head of Contemporary Art for laCollection, Marlène coordinated a unique exhibition of the very first NFTs collection of Egon Schiele’s most iconic masterpieces in dialogue with 4 digital artists : LaTurbo Avedon, Stine Deja, Marjan Moghaddam and Signe Pierce. The exhibition was set in a gallery space on the side of Frieze New York.
This dialogue between an artist of the past and contemporary artists shows that subjects at the heart of Schiele’s works are still very relevant today : gender and androgyny, personal identity and plurality, and psychological struggle. A tortured genius belonging to the Expressionist movement, Egon Schiele explored his identity through bodies, echoing the significance of flesh and look in our digital age.
